Things to do at Wapta Falls
Wapta Falls is the widest waterfall in Yoho National Park, a broad curtain on the Kicking Horse River that drops around 30 metres and rarely sees the crowds that gather at Takakkaw Falls. 5 to 2 hours return at an easy pace.
The trailhead parking lot sits just off the Trans-Canada Highway in the southwest corner of the park, near the British Columbia boundary, about 1 h 45 from Banff. Unlike Takakkaw, whose access road closes for winter, Wapta Falls is reachable year-round, though the trail can be icy from November to April.
A valid Parks Canada pass is required to stop here.
