Things to do in Drumheller

Drumheller sits in the Alberta badlands, roughly 3 hours from Banff but only 1 hour 30 from Calgary, which is why most visitors base themselves in Calgary or fly into YYC and treat this as a day trip rather than an add-on to a Rockies itinerary.

The Dinosaur Trail loop threads past eroded hoodoos visible right from the road, and the 26-metre World's Largest Dinosaur statue in town lets you climb up into its jaws for a few dollars. The Royal Tyrrell Museum and Horseshoe Canyon are both nearby but deserve their own visit rather than a rushed stop here.

Summers run hot and dry, often above 30 degrees with little shade across the badlands, so bring more water than you think you need and a hat; this semi-arid climate is a sharp contrast to the mountain weather back in Banff.
