Things to do in Sunshine Village & Sunshine Meadows

Sunshine Village sits on the Continental Divide above Banff, reached only by an eight-minute gondola from the base area 18 km along the Trans-Canada Highway. In winter it runs the longest season of the SkiBig3 trio, often into late May, with lift tickets typically NZD 160 to 200 a day and a Kananaskis-style base elevation that holds snow long after Norquay has thinned out.

Summer flips the mountain into Sunshine Meadows, a network of alpine trails above the treeline, gondola and shuttle only since no public road crosses the pass.

Late September brings the meadows' larches to gold alongside Larch Valley, and Parks Canada often restricts hikers here to groups of four or more for grizzly safety during that fortnight, with trailhead queues before 7am.
