Things to do at Moraine Lake
Moraine Lake sits 14 km from Lake Louise village at the foot of the Valley of the Ten Peaks, and the road has been closed to personal vehicles year-round since 2023.
The only ways in are Parks Canada's shuttle, Roam Transit, a commercial tour or coach, or cycling in yourself; shuttle seats are sold in spring blocks and then on a rolling 48-hour booking window, and both sell out fast in July and August.
The lake stays frozen well into June, later than Lake Louise, so its turquoise colour from suspended glacial silt is really only reliable from late June. Most visitors spend 45 minutes to an hour at the shore and the Rockpile lookout before heading back to the shuttle queue.
